Join us as Dr. Leib presents her dissertation for museum guests, members, and volunteers!
This month, Susan graduated from Texas Tech University with a Ph.D. in Geoscience, the cherry on top of all her schooling, which includes a B.S. in geology, an M.S. in geoscience, and an M.A. in museum studies.
Her dissertation, titled “Temporal Evolution of the Rattlesnake Creek terrane and Implication of Jurassic Construction of Crust in the Western United States” is the basis for several manuscripts she is working to publish. The study involves looking at high pressure and high temperature minerals (primarily garnet and rutile) to gather geochemical evidence and dates for major metamorphic events. This allows for an interpretation of the tectonic setting and continental crust at that time (in the Jurassic).
Free Admission to the museum is available to those attending the presentation!
